AH-101 ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY
This course includes a study of basic cell biology and the following organ systems: Integumentary, Skeletal, Muscular, Nervous, Endocrine, Cardiovascular, Lymphatic, Respiratory, Digestive, Urinary, and Reproductive.
AH-201 MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY
This course provides the student with medical language skills including pronunciation, spelling, and definitions as a foundation for developing the degree of competency required to read and understand medical documentation and reports; as well as communicate with physicians and other medical professionals. This course is taught alongside Anatomy & Physiology to include a study of the following areas of medicine: Dermatology, Orthopedic, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Hematology, Immunology, Psychiatric, Oncology, Radiology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, and Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology.
RCM-101 Medical Law and Ethics
This course examines:
1. The legal aspects of the relationship between the patient and health care service providers.
2. The legal obligations of health care providers are discussed.
3. Subject matter covered includes, but is not limited to, topics such as negligence, malpractice, informed consent, medical ethics, living wills, and current trends in this area.
RCM-201 Revenue Cycle Management
In this course, students will learn the complexities of revenue cycle and reimbursement management for healthcare services. The course provides details on the impact of patient access accuracy, billing and collections of various payers and patients, managed care, health information management as well as the importance of coding compliance and documentation improvement.
MC-301 Medical Coding
This course includes the principles of diagnosis and procedural coding. In this course the student will learn how to code and apply guidelines for ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
Upon completion of this course, students will:
1. Learn the purpose of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding and the use of the coding books.
2. Apply the ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
3. Learn to abstract information from clinical documentation.
4. Code a variety of patients services using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
